CEILI DANCE

The group dances are Ceil. You can dance des 4 to 16 or more. For example you need a dance you can dance in 4 separate groups but 4 people each, and there are dances involving 16 people as a group. Dance slippers or soft softshoes.

Origin and history

A ceilidh (formerly named as well) to a social gathering of any kind, without which it will do any dance.
Social function

 Ceil when performing social dances are often performed in a progressive style. At the end of every iteration of the dance (and drive around the body), instead of stopping, the groups go through to the next set of members in line. Ceil dances that can be performed progressively are: Walls of Limerick, Ennis hoop, of Haymaker Jig, Fairy Reel.
Types of steps used

Named hardshoes traditional steps. The rhythm of the dance depends but Jig or (j) or Hornpipe (HP). The best known are Blackbird (HP) St. Patrick's Day (J) and The Three Sea Captains (J).
Components involved

It is the discipline that uses soft shoes called Ghillies. All beginners go through soft shoes before starting the Irish Tap. Depending on the type of dance music that is performed, such as a reel, jig (single or light) or slip jig.
